LAX Airport Police Facility

The LAX Airport Police Facility is a 165,300-square-foot public safety headquarters developed on a 12-acre campus adjacent to Los Angeles International Airport. Opened in 2021, the facility consolidated Airport Police Division operations previously spread across eight separate locations and provides a centralized workplace for more than 1,100 sworn officers, security personnel, and staff. The campus includes the headquarters building, a contained practice firing range, multipurpose and specialized operational spaces, and a structured parking facility supporting critical units including Operations, Homeland Security and Intelligence, Bomb Disposal, K-9, and Emergency Services. The project achieved LEED Gold certification and was built to CALGreen Tier 1 standards.

CMI delivered design-build HVAC services across the headquarters building, firing range support building, and parking structure. The mechanical scope incorporated rooftop VAV systems, heating hot water, VRF systems, split systems, CRAC units, and specialized ventilation systems. CMI also developed a custom locker plenum exhaust solution that improved constructability while maintaining code compliance and meeting the demanding ventilation requirements of the facility.
