The Los Angeles Southwest College Campus Modernization encompassed approximately 460,000 square feet of improvements across multiple academic, administrative, and student-support facilities throughout the LACCD campus. The project included upgrades to laboratory and classroom spaces, administrative areas, the Cox Building and Little Theater, library functions, recreation facilities, and other campus infrastructure. By addressing a diverse group of buildings and program types within a single coordinated effort, the modernization enhanced spaces supporting instruction, research, administration, student services, and campus life.
CMI provided comprehensive mechanical upgrades across the multi-building campus, including central plant integration, custom air-handling units, chilled-water systems, and thermal displacement ventilation. The varied requirements of laboratories, classrooms, offices, theater spaces, library areas, and recreation facilities required extensive planning and coordination to integrate new mechanical systems throughout the existing campus environment. CMI also developed value-engineered solutions focused on improving system performance, constructability, and efficiency while helping reduce overall construction costs.
