The Newport Beach Civic Center and Park created a new civic campus centered around an approximately 98,000-square-foot City Hall, City Council Chambers, community spaces, and a two-story, 440-car parking structure. The project also included a 17,000-square-foot, two-story expansion of the existing Newport Beach Central Library, connecting the library with the new civic center and surrounding 16-acre public park. Designed with a strong emphasis on sustainability, natural light, and indoor-outdoor connectivity, the project achieved LEED Gold certification.

CMI provided HVAC design-assist services for the new civic center, community spaces, and council chambers, as well as the remodel and expansion of the existing library. The project incorporated more than 75,000 square feet of underfloor air distribution, using an underfloor air delivery system designed to take advantage of available free cooling and improve overall energy performance.
