SunPower’s headquarters campus (now servicing as Archer Aviation HQ) encompassed approximately 185,000 square feet across three buildings, combining roughly 150,000 square feet of office space with approximately 30,000 square feet of laboratories and cleanroom environments. The campus supported SunPower’s corporate, research, and product-development operations and included a rooftop solar array that supplied energy to the buildings while also serving as a testing platform for the company’s photovoltaic technology.
CMI provided HVAC and plumbing services for the fast-paced project, working closely with SunPower and the general contractor to coordinate the design and installation of systems serving the office, laboratory, and cleanroom spaces. The existing office building utilized a double-duct VAV system with upgraded rooftop equipment and DDC controls, while the laboratories and Class 1000 cleanroom incorporated scrubbed exhaust, general exhaust, and dedicated chilled-water air-handling systems. Two 150-ton air-cooled chillers supplied chilled water to the air handlers and a heat exchanger serving the process chilled-water loop, with additional process piping installed throughout the laboratory and cleanroom areas.
