UCI Computer Science Unit 3

UC Irvine Computer Science Unit 3 is an approximately 148,000-square-foot, six-story academic facility supporting the university’s information and computer sciences programs. The building combines dry laboratories, classrooms, tiered lecture halls, seminar rooms, and administrative offices within a consolidated teaching and research environment. Originally planned as two separate buildings, the design-build team redesigned the project as a unified facility, generating approximately $6 million in construction savings. The completed project achieved LEED Gold certification.

CMI completed the design-build HVAC scope for the facility, providing mechanical systems supporting its classrooms, lecture halls, laboratories, offices, and central plant infrastructure. The work included advanced air-handling systems, underground piping, building controls, and high-efficiency mechanical systems designed to support reliable operation and improved energy performance throughout the academic facility.
