UC Riverside North District Phase 2 Student Housing is an approximately 424,000-square-foot residential development designed to expand affordable on-campus housing for students from both UCR and the Riverside Community College District. The project provides 1,568 beds within 429 apartment-style units across two seven-story buildings, along with study areas, communal spaces, and other residential amenities. As part of the joint UCR-RCCD initiative, 652 beds are reserved for low-income students, supporting broader access to campus housing and university resources.

CMI provided design-build HVAC systems for the development, utilizing an all-electric Daikin VRF heat-recovery system to serve the residential units and shared amenity spaces. The project incorporated full BIM coordination and an optimized zoning strategy designed to improve energy efficiency, provide flexible temperature control, and accommodate the varied demands of the large-scale student housing environment.
